Caso Fortuito (Fortuitous Event) consists of large format digital canvas prints of extreme enlargements of physically intervened dry paint. Each piece presents a stage in the process of discovery, a testament to the beauty of serendipity that occurs upon the encounter of process, material, and chance. It is a visit to the abstract expressionism of the past, with materials found yesterday and today’s technology, a large scale splash of color that invites the viewer to an immersive and emotional experience.
This project continues my lifelong relationship with photography as a conceptual tool, which drives me to work with found material, searching endlessly for details and the ‘right’ framing of everyday stuff. This is a celebration of the unexpected, highlighting the power of perspective, and inviting the viewer to see the world through a different lens
